The Cape wind system is rather complex, and oftentimes requires one to travel a bit, to secure wind for the day. Nothing beats gaining insights from a resident kitesurfer in order to maximise the number of wind days you experience during your stay.
Your guide - a kitesurfer too - will be assigned to you based on your level of experience and riding preferences. They will drive you to wherever the wind blows and the conditions are right for you (up to 300km a day, if necessary). Because they know the Western and Southern Cape coasts so well, and best of all are willing to transport you there, this format can generally guarantee you wind. Their know-how will also help ensure your safety on the water.
Your guide is dedicated to you for the duration of your stay. They will kitesurf with you, drive you wherever you need to go (to great spots, your accommodation, world-class restaurants, take you on road-trips and other activities), take photos of you - both on and off the water - and provide you with ongoing good advice regarding restaurants and other activities to pursue between your kitesurfing sessions. In the background, they will also take care of all the logistics regarding your stay, including all accommodation arrangements and activity reservations, making your holiday an effortless experience on your behalf.
Your guide is there for you, whatever you need. Their knowledge of the area will make everything just seem to fall into place, to give you the most amazing holiday.
If you are struggling to go upwind, your guide will give you good advice on how to improve your technique; or if you want to try out new things in the comfort of someone who knows what they are doing, or just tips on how to get more height out of your jumps, then you will get this from a trip. Just remember, you are paying for a guide and not an instructor, so you have to be independent enough to be on the water on your own. You have to be able to kitesurf to a reasonable level to make the most of it.
